CFN Incentive Program PDF Print E-mail

Every time you help promote liberty on campus, you will accumulate points. Accumulate enough points, and you will win prizes. In addition to the grand prize, active CFN members will be eligible for a number of other prizes and benefits. Although we have listed some of the prizes on our website, we are always expanding our program and are willing to tailor our prizes to fit our student members.

The 2009-2010 incentive program will end on May 15, 2010.

The Point System

Host a FIRE Speaker

FIRE staffers are always available to speak on college campuses throughout the semester. If you can successfully coordinate an event through a campus group (or several) or through a campus committee or department, you will be rewarded with 75 points.

Write an Op-Ed in Your Local or Campus Paper

For every unique editorial that you write in your campus or community paper about a FIRE case, you will receive 25 points. Once your editorial is published, send a copy to the Campus Freedom Network and we will record your points.

Put a FIRE Widget on Your Blog, Facebook Profile

FIRE's Spotlight and Speech Code of the Month widgets bring attention to speech codes at colleges and universities across the county. If you help FIRE publicize these policies by placing a speech codes widget on your blog or Facebook profile, the CFN will reward you with 5 points for each widget. To learn more, visit the CFN Widget page.

Show Off Your FIRE T-Shirt!

Every CFN member who signs up with the CFN receives a free FIRE t-shirt. As we write in our welcome letter, we encourage you to wear your shirts to "advertise your commitment to free speech and to let your college administration know that there are those on campus who will not sit idly by while the rights of their fellow students and faculty members are trampled upon."

In that vein, the CFN would like to encourage every member to send in photos of themselves wearing their t-shirt. You can take the photo in your room, on campus, or anywhere. Be creative with your photo. Every student who sends in their photo will receive 5 points in the CFN incentive program. E-mail your photos to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . We will post the photos online to show off our great members.

Recruit a New CFN Member

Every time you recruit a new student or faculty member, you will automatically receive 5 points. Each new member will have to first register with their campus email address, although they can edit it once they successfully register. Use our "invite a friend" tool to start recruiting new members. Through this page, you can invite friends by manually entering their email addresses, by pulling contacts from your Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, or AOL address books, and even by sending invites directly through any one of your favorite existing social networks, like Facebook. Additionally, you can keep track of who you have invited, who has or has not yet accepted your invitation, and even send reminders.

Although this system should automically give you credit, make sure you remind those you register to put your name down in the “Reason for Joining” just in case they end up not using your link but still register as a result of your suggestion.
